With the exception of dirty restrooms, we liked this campground. The pool area is very nice. But it seems like some people can't read English. No food or drinks are allowed in the pool area, picnic tables right outside the gate for this purpose. Still, there was a family having a picnic right next to the pool, with small children dropping food all over. The restrooms were very dirty mid-week, for two days there were no paper towels. We did notice that they were being cleaned on Friday, to get ready for the weekend. They need to be cleaned at least daily. I didn't care for the layout of the showers. Three showers, but one shared dressing area, locker style, and no hooks. We overheard a conversation about being owned by a corporation, rather than privately owned, with the bottom line being that corporations care more about their big profit than the quality they provide. We did find every employee we came in contact with to be very friendly and professional. Not sure if we'll return, depends if the restrooms improve.
It's hard to believe that we were also the last posted review for this campground, back in August 2006. This is a great CG, small, clean, still many seasonals. We like the roomy showers, dressing area and restroom stalls. They're not tiny and cramped like many CG's. Showers are timed push button. Most seem to be on a three second timer, which may be difficult for handicapped people. On the last night of our six night stay, wife did find a seven second timer, but husband found the twenty second timer one! Cable TV reception of some of the few channels offered was poor. A nice addition is free WiFi, we didn't know that before arriving. The pool area is wonderful, many activities are offered, and the store is well stocked and reasonably priced. I'm sure we will return here again.
Our feelings on this campground are the same as the last few reviewers. Nice owners, close lots, great new laundry room, nice recreation room, and well stocked office. One thing that surprised us was that none of the bathrooms had hand soap or paper towels. We learned to bring our own after the first visit. There are plenty of bath houses, but they all are very odd. Some are for one person, but with a broken lock and no dressing area. Others have a minuscule dressing area. All of the showers are operated by a piece of hose or PVC pipe which you must pull and hold down. When the pipe gets soapy it is difficult to keep a hold of it. A handicapped person would have a hard time. Some of the showers are large enough for you to dry yourself, other showers are too small. It was the same way with the toilet stalls. Either you had plenty of room or you banged your knees on the door. During the five weekdays we were here the bath houses didn't look like they were cleaned. When we left on the weekend, we noticed that they were being cleaned. We would camp here again. We'll just enjoy it more when the bathrooms are refurbished.
When we pulled into the campground driveway, we knew this was going to be a great stay. Less than 10' from our MH there was a bald eagle feeding! The owners are very friendly, frequently asking if everything is alright. At check-in, when we mentioned water fowl to Sherrie, she moved us to a water view site instead of the site we had reserved unseen online. The camp, restrooms and showers are clean. The only thing we didn't like was that the showers have glass (see through)doors. If you don't like showering and dressing in view of everyone, bring a large extra towel to hang over the door.
We enjoyed our stay at this campground. The restrooms and showers were always clean. A handicapped accessible tub is even available. The staff is helpful and very cordial, and the owners really care. The lots are not always level, especially the one we had, located on an end, but it was not a major problem. A nature trail leads to the ruins of an old burned out stone home. There are plenty of attractions in the area. We would stay here again.
I'll say the good first, I really don't like to complain. The restrooms and showers were extremely well maintained. Now, the rest: Our site was by a cornfield, not a tree in sight, just blazing sun 18 hours a day. It looked like the shady sites were suitable for small campers, not 32' motor homes. This fact alone would keep us from staying here again, now I've learned to make sure some shade is available. The pool is a very long walk; be prepared. Part of the campground's advertising is "Free Amish Tour". Since we weren't traveling with a tow vehicle this time, we wanted to take advantage of it. What they don't tell you is that the tour does not leave from the campground, you must drive several miles away to catch it. We had trouble using the WiFi, so we asked for help. After following the clerk's instructions, it still would not work. And, after leaving, we discovered we were over-charged. We paid for 50 amp service, and got 30 amp. This campground is great for small campers, children, or people who worship the sun.
This was the first campground we stayed out after buying our first motorhome. So, it was a test for us and we loved it. The park was quiet, but has a large number of seasonal sites. The restrooms are old and very clean. The pool seems to be fairly new and was great. The staff was very welcoming. We would stay here again.
